Abstract
  • This thesis demonstrated that forming catechists with the methods and tools used in preaching formation prepares them to proclaim and teach sacred scripture with greater confidence and precision. The thesis explained that the baptized and confirmed are a people set apart to 'proclaim his virtues.' (1 Pt 2:9). Four specific practices of the preaching habitus; lectio divinia, congregational analysis, biblical criticism and rhetoric were explained in detail. A test workshop was conducted in which the practices were applied to the formation of catechists. The results of the application methods, obtained through qualitative research, are revealed in chapter four. The qualitative research proves that the formation of catechists in the preaching habitus improves the catechist's ability to proclaim and teach sacred scripture.
