Abstract
  • The redaction model for interpretation assumes that symbols are the key elements in both dream narratives and biblical narratives. It was applied to narratives collected from three groups discussing dreams and two groups discussing religious concerns at two nursing homes. It proved to be consistently useful in opening both dreams and biblical narratives to discussion and interpretation. The model states that a symbol is an intermediate text composed from three preliminary texts, each of which has its own grammar, and that symbols are included in narrative texts as they are composed.
