Abstract
  • Brazil's Pentecostals, following patterns used by John Wesley, are experiencing rapid growth by mobilizing their members for witness, organizing small groups, planting new churches, and using disciple-apprenticeship training for the pastorate. Until the late 1960s Christian Reformed churches started lay-led chapels for non-Dutch or needy people. The author, a former Brazilian church-planter and pastor of a blue-collar mission chapel, challenges American congregations to move from a stagnant clericalism, using indigenous mission and discipleship methods to lead and train laymen to plant growing satellite churches in other sectors of society.
