Abstract
  • The theological principle which undergirds this thesis maintains that the preached Word speaks to people from all cultures and unites those who respond in faith under the Lordship of Christ. The faithful preaching of a theology of the cross communicates God's saving grace for all. This study underscores the reality that Scripture is read and interpreted on the basis of lived experiences both as individuals and as persons in community. Based on questionnaire responses and parish intervention discussions, the paper maintains that preaching, with the intent of fostering spiritual growth for all members in the Anglo-Hispanic parish setting, will be a more effective tool toward this end if it is attentive to differences in the understanding of spirituality.
