Abstract
  • This project proposes that clergy couples are called to ordained ministry together to counter deleterious effects of patriarchal patterns of behavior in the church. In a qualitative study of 12 Episcopal/Anglican clergy couples in the United States and Canada, the project finds that couple ministry is an authentic call of God for transformation of the church, but the personal cost to these couples is high. Churches need to prepare couples and support them in such ministry.
