- Abstract
- The Christian Church (Dsiciples of Christ) uses the modified congregational polity inherent in the historical freedom of the western frontier. The ideal covenant community focuses on the principles of the Mosaic covenant community. The story of Joseph, as a steward leader, provides a biblical model by which effective leadership is provided to the people of God. The goal of ministry in the modified congregational context is to keep the congregation operating within the context of the Mosaic covenant community. Pastors and congregations must engage in reflective assessment in order to seek a context that matches gifts for ministry and congregational needs.
