  • The church was established by our lord, Jesus Christ, to carry out his ministry in this world. From the earliest times, the church has struggled with its unity as a 'body'. The twentieth century church is rocked by the growing number of schisms in many congregations. Dr. mcGahey has served one such congregation trying to pick up the pieces of a major division. Through the use of personal interviews and questionnaires, mcGahey has tried to evaluate the situation of his congregation. He has tried to build a sense of unity through a 150th anniversary celebration, to affirm the ministry of his people. The result is a reawareness of our own need to see ourselves as God's people, not our own. Through this awareness, the spiritual healing of a church begins.
