Abstract
  • This study maintains that the church is sent into the world as Jesus was and that a congregation finds its life in that sending. Many congregations have anchored their life in their buildings rather than in their Lord. This project examines the relationship of buildings to mission, looking for a way to balance buildings with vision and ministry. The study shows that congregations have struggled with this issue for generations. Two separate congregations began a process of building assessment. Their different motivations for participation affected their results. The project confirmed the conviction that buildings are tied to vision.
