Abstract

Evangelism within the Church of God (Cleveland, Tenn) denomination can and should be more effectively done. The mission and work of evangelism in the historical Church of God in two different eras (1886-1928 and 1970-1989) is considered in relation to the elements of evangelism, doctrines, major church leadership, and hindrances to evangelism. Implications of this research are drawn and stated, and a design for local Church of God evangelism is suggested. A proposed plan for incorporating local leadership and membership into the ownership and personalized designing of a particular local congregation's plan for evangelism is also presented.
