Abstract
  • The thesis is the development of a philosophy for an existing radio program sponsored by the Lafayette Church of Christ, Macon County, Tennessee, with an aim of helping other similar programs to evaluate themselves. Research was done in current theory about the use and effectiveness of the medium, the situation in small-town America, the views of the leadership of the church about goals for the program; a random survey was taken to determine the composition of the present audience. Radio is best used for pre-evangelism, advertising, and curiosity-arousal; it is probably not the best medium for teaching and direct evangelism.
