- Using the theories of John Goldingay, Thomas Long, Henry Mitchell, and Frank Thomas, this project illustrates a systematic attempt to exemplify the new homiletic. The project initiates a homiletical method that utilizes research, criticism, movement and a dialectic approach to encourage congregational response and spiritual transformation. The methodology applied reveals that while celebration has cultural traits depending upon context, it also has a biblical and theologically precedence and warrants being experienced by every Christian community. This work aims to establish that there are spiritual benefits and advantages associated with both cognitive and emotive celebration. 'Let the Church Say Amen' is a comprehensive evaluation of Baptist beliefs and how the African American church celebrates history and identity through its preaching and worship experiences.
