- Abstract
- The Xtra Years of Zest Club, of Temple Tifereth Israel, Malden, Massachusetts, is an example of a Reform congregation attempting to meet the needs of its aging members. The Doctor of Ministry evaluation and planning-action evaluation project examines the club's strengths and weaknesses within the framework of the entire synagogue. The reasons why the club does not qualify as a model for other congregations to emulate are articulated. Subjects covered include: Judaism and the synagogue's role in the aging community; a focused, annotated bibliography on contemporary Reform Judaism and aging; the club's history and evaluation based on four surveys; and conclusions, recommendations and appendices.
