- Abstract
- This thesis explores the topic of the spiritual formation and professional development of those called to the office of deacon within the Christian Reformed Church and specifically within Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Wupun, Wisconsin. Initial qualitative research revealed potential for improvement within the diaconate in a variety of formational, structural and perceptual domains. An eight week training process entitled Bridgebuilders was developed, operating under the thesis that it would have a slight but beneficial effect upon these domains. Follow-up research revealed a beneficial effect upon the current diaconate of Bethel Christian Reformed Church across many of the domains and how the process could be enhanced and improved.
