- Abstract
- This project combines a statistical survey of a large sample of United Methodist pastors with a series of in-depth interviews. It presents the results in a case study format. The author examines the biblical and theological backgrounds for ministry, as well as the pastoral role and personality. He makes concluding recommendations to facilitate the task of those responsible for helping pastors make career decisions, the process of transition to a new career, or the use of support skills in enabling a more fulfilling ministry for those who remain in local parish ministry.
