Abstract
  • This project added video cassettes to an existing scripture study curriculum to provide discussion of key questions of the text. A panel of lay persons plus a dialogue between biblical scholars made critical biblical scholarship available to the average believer using a video cassette recorder. Research involved perusing Vatican II documents and subsequent directives. Academic study of media production and related disciplines helped complete a new curriculum with a pilot video program which has been successfully field-tested. It is concluded that video-based Bible study which includes scholarly reflections is a viable means of religious education.
