  • The author believes that a more intentional nurture of personal religious experience by mainline churches will increase service to the world. A theoretical chapter argues that religious experiences are unique and qualitatively different from natural experiences without, on the opposite extreme, becoming irrelevant magical supernatural events. Research, by test and interview, explored the relationship between religious experience and service.
