  • The study investigates the thesis that preachers can improve the relevancy of their sermons by involving the listener in the formative process of the sermon. This project uses Bible studies of sermon texts, questionnaires, and evaluations. The author concludes that participation in a sermon text Bible study group helps make the sermon relevant for the group participant; however, the data does not show that the relevance of a sermon increases because hearers are used in a Bible study of the sermon text. Many contributing factors influence a sermon's relevance.
