- Abstract
- This project analyzes the responsible exercise of power in a local church merger. The process involved analyzing the situation of the two churches, defining a Christian understanding of power, applying this understanding in the merging of the two United Methodist churches, and recording insights from this exercise. Learnings included an understanding of the church, the necessary renewal after merging, and that power should be exercised in a non-sinful, life-giving way, and the foundation for a successful merger must be one of spiritual renewal and love.
