Abstract
  • The radically destructive implications of the nuclear arms race pose a fundamental challenge to the church, which is called to witness to peace as both transcendent promise and moral condition of human society. The church can effect its ministry to the world in this context through concerted reflection and action. The thesis draws upon pertinent readings of theological, ethical, and political literature. It also reports the methods and outcomes of a lay study group in a Unitarian church on peacemaking. The project demonstrates how a small, highly motivated group can engage the congregation in a corporate peace ministry.
