Abstract
  • The thesis of this project is that the pastoral ministry of the local church must recognize and assume a specific role in a wider ministry to the social, political and economic institutions and forces of modern society. Five workshops, with continual evaluation and reflection, were conducted in three settings: in a cluster of churches, in a continuing education course for ministers involving theological reflection, and in one local church. There was steady growth in understanding by facilitator and participants. The reshaping of pastoral mission at the local level can only be effective if accompanied by supportive changge and/or action on many levels of church life.
