Abstract
  • Life questions religion. The human experience of crisis and suffering calls into question the presence and love of God. This project attempts to prepare a congregation for times of crisis and suffering by means of a ministry of preaching, teaching, and celebration of Christ's presence in the Lord's Supper. By utilizing insights from Samuel Terrien's The Elusive Presence, by developing a working process theodicy and an understanding of 'real presence' in the Eucharist, and by a lay group which helped to write liturgies and shape sermon content, a congregation deepened their experience and understanding of God's presence.
