- Abstract
- The public reading of Scripture has been neglected in many Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches. This project aimed at encouraging Scripture reading in the Sunday worship service of C&MA churches. It involved fifteen C&MA pastors who used a three-month segment of a four-year Bible reading schedule, developed for this project. Each Sunday they read the assigned reading and material given to them to help them prepare for and introduce the reading. They then filled out a questionnaire, which attempted to evaluate their reactions and ideas concerning the three-month implementation period. They also filled out a short questionnaire three months after they completed the implementation period. This questionnaire sought to identify if they were still reading Scripture regularly in worship and why they were or were not continuing in this biblical practice. The conclusions drawn from the project related to the benefits of participation and the obstacles faced in regularly including Scripture reading in Sunday worship.
