Abstrakt

This project proposes that Christian discipline is a ministry of covenant responsibility in Atlantic Baptist churches. To determine the nature and practice of discipline, the project examines 'discipline' and 'covenant' as concepts in the biblical text and church history. A survey of Atlantic Baptist churches affirms the relevance of discipline among believers, despite certain reservations. The project offers guidelines for practice of safe and effective discipline, emphasizing the Bible, Church Covenant, and Constitution as valuable resources for establishing and revitalizing Christian discipline in the church.
