- Abstract
- Hunger is a growing problem in Maricopa County, Arizona. The purpose of this project is to analyze the effectiveness of food banks as a means of addressing this problem. The writer reviews the scriptures and discovers two themes: 1) everything belongs to God, and 2) God's people are to look to the needs of others. The writer examines current literature and discovers that poverty is tied closely to hunger. The Westside Food Bank is used as a model of food banking. Three other food banks in Arizona also are studied. The writer concludes with recommendations for developing and improving on a food bank.
