  • The project sought to discover the extent to which United Methodist pastors at the Detroit Annual Conference understood the role of kenosis in their ministries. A survey offering ideals evaluated how well pastors yielded to God within their ministry vocations. Demographics provided insight into detailed kenotic inclination. As a result, pastors showed areas of resistance and embrace of kenosis. Demographics illustrated kenosis highly among female clergy and deacons. Length of time in ministry reflected an ebb and flow. The necessity of a spiritual bond between pastor and congregation to aid in leadership and faith formation was discovered.
