Abstract

Traditional, declining churches are organizations that can be transformed into relevant, influential bodies of believers. Organizational change is a process that can be defined by common stages. By studying organizational change, performing case studies, and drawing on my personal experience, specific stages of transformation for New Testament churches have been defined. The case studies themselves are limited by criteria, which produce a beginning model. The end result is defined by scriptural criteria for a New Testament church. By examining the transformational process of the four case study churches, which have met the criteria, and researching written material on organizational transformation, a multi-stage process specific to churches emerged. This process was then used as a comparison to my current context as the senior pastor of Northside Baptist Church. The final result includes eight specific recommendations for the ministry of Northside Baptist Church, which will enable it to be transformed.
