- Abstract
- Churches have a responsibility to equip members to the hurts of people. Most churches, however, need assistance in increasing the effectiveness of the congregation's ability to give care. The writer developed a three-month training program for twelve persons to study the theology of caregiving, stages of human development, and caring skills. Following training the trainees entered hurting situations under the writer's supervision. Evaluation of the project indicated substantial evidence that the trainees had increased their skills in giving care and enabled them to enter the hurting situations with a greater degree of confidence and effectiveness.
