Abstract
  • By the inclusion of a self-chosen project and the introduction of spiritual exercises, project-oriented confirmation changes the focus of the communicant-commissioning process to helping the person discover, dvelop, and express his gifts of faith. The program aims to foster the inclusion of adolescent new members into the congregation as active participants. The design is offered to replace confirmational materials that induce passivity or confuse the history of faith and the growth of faith in persons. The design was used experimentally with a class of seven communicants in a small to medium sized congregation.
