Abstract
  • In seeking to reshape itself for more effective ministry, the Brethren in Christ Church is at risk of abandoning effective components of its traditional approach to spiritual formation. The research question addressed in this paper is: To what extent will the reincorporation of traditional Brethren in Christ discipleship practices into the life of the contemporary church produce an increase in spiritual passion? As measured by the Natural Church Development survey, results were not encouraging. However, on a self-reporting survey, project participants did give evidence of a significant increase in their love for God.
