Abstract
  • The project-thesis chronicles efforts of the author to guide the United Church of Christ of Annapolis, Maryland, in addressing three issues: an honest look at the congregation's past; becoming an Open and Affirming church; and developing behavioral covenants for both council and congregation--in ways that empowered and enabled the congregation to move toward healing, transformation, and a new way of being by naming the trauma of their past, seeing a future marked by a new, healthy, and authentic reality, and learning to speak and listen in ways appropriate for a people in covenant and community.
