Abstract
  • This project assesses the challenges six United Methodist pastors experienced in beginning new churches. Through compilation of completed surveys and personal interviews, key questions are proposed for leaders in new church development. Statistics on new church starts within the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church are compiled and compared to the presence of, or lack of, a fulltime staff position in new church development. The research discloses three top questions to be asked when beginning a new church and asserts the need for full time directors of new church development in The United Methodist Church.
