Abstract
  • There is within the culture a heightened sensitivity to issues concerning corporate and personal freedoms and an increasing scepticism of traditional sources of authority. Grounded in an action in ministry consisting of twelve guided conversations, this thesis explores the extent to which their experience of this phenomenon outside the gathered church influences how Anglicans relate to and participate in their congregation. No distinction was discerned between their perceptions of power inside and outside the gathered church. Also, while participants felt generally disempowered within the congregation as a whole as hierarchial structures break down, they experienced empowerment within small networking groups.
