  • Leading people into a twenty-first-century faith: creating a guidebook for deepening discipleship
Abstract
  • U.S. religious communities are at a crossroads. Mainline Christian congregations are experiencing a reformation never before encountered. Pastors and congregations recognize the tensions existent in the context of the Christian faith experience. Each year fewer people remain linked to the Christian endeavor. Church leaders are searching for answers. The author addresses the necessity of faithful and visionary leadership at this time. The project is a result of years of research including interviews with other clergy in the American context regarding the task of disciple-making. A handbook for deepening discipleship has been developed to assist pastors and congregations in their work.
