  • Equipping selected members of First Baptist Church Slidell, Louisiana, to develop house church leaders in Colombia through Bible storying
Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to equip a selected group of members of First Baptist Church, Slidell, Louisiana, to develop house church leaders in Colombia through Bible storying. The project director researched worldview and its impact on mission strategy. He further researched orality and orality-based mission strategies. He devised an equipping workshop to introduce a group of church members to the concepts of worldview and orality, and to Bible storying as a culturally appropriate orality-based mission strategy for developing house church leaders among the internally displaced people of Colombia. The project utilized several evaluative measures, including an expert-evaluated annotated bibliography, and expert critique of the lesson plans, pre- and post-workshop questionnaires, and a workshop evaluation form. The project director increased his knowledge of worldview and its implications for mission strategy. He also increased his understanding of orality and of Bible storying as a contextually-appropriate orality-based missions methodology. The long-term impact of the equipping workshop is beyond the scope of this project.
