Abstract
  • The thesis describes how the integration of liberation theology and pastoral advocacy provide military chaplains with a theological and practical model for addressing oppression (discrimination or unfair treatment) within the military workplace. To test the thesis three methods of research are utilized: investigating literature on the subject of liberation theology and pastoral advocacy; analyzing three case studies; and a group discussion with seven chaplains to evaluate the data. The chaplains concur that the project/thesis is a viable model to implement as one mode of pastoral counseling in the military chaplaincy. In addition the thesis enhances one's understanding of liberation theology, pastoral advocacy and counseling skills.
