- Abstract
- In a world that is quickly changing from a modern to a postmodern perspective, it is vitally important that the church reach the generation which most closely relates to this shift in culture. This generation, known as Generation X, is vastly different from its predecessors and presents a great challenge to the church which is just now beginning to embrace the differences presented by the Baby Boomer generation. Generation Xers challenge the church to show the validity of Christianity in this world. They reject traditional institutions and beliefs while they become more and more skeptical of all truth claims. This project will seek to train a group of Christians, members of Spring Creek Baptist Church, to share the gospel effectively in personal witnessing encounters with members of Generation X. This goal will be accomplished by teaching sessions which focus on the dynamics of Generation X combined with practical, on-the-job, witnessing experiences. These Christians will be challenged to reach individuals who fall into this age group and cultural worldview. Teaching sessions focused on the theological basis of salvation will enable each Christian to adapt the gospel to a variety of witnessing situations.
