Abstract
  • The purpose of the study was to determine how effectively a wholistic approach for activation could be adapted within the context of the Lombard Central Presbyterian Church, a small black congregation in Philadelphia, using assessment, goal-setting, and implementation processes. Sixty-one percent of the congregation par ticipated in the project, resulting in a 7 percent increase in commitment of time and a 12 percent increase in monetary pledges. This project, adapted from Robert Worley's Dry Bones Breathe, helped the church become intentional about its ministry and to measure its success in specific objectives within the area of its mission.
