Abstract
  • This project discusses the value of the Internet for helping pastors become more effective, efficient, and relevant. The sample consisted of 257 domestic and foreign pastors surveyed anonymously by mail concerning 14 pastoral task areas and five Internet features. Two-thirds had access to the Internet, claiming e-mail and pornography as its greatest advantage and disadvantage, respectively. Survey results also revealed a surprising lack of discrepancy in generations of Internet users. Preferred web sites, time and tasks online, and Internet education comprised other topics analyzed. Overall, pastors concluded that the Internet marginally to moderately increased their competency.
