- Abstract
- This project defines and compares the prophetic roles of Jesus and Muhammad in the theoretical framework articulated by Max Weber. Both Jesus and Muhammad exhibit the charismatic qualities of Weber's ideal-type of a charismatic leader against the background of the distinctive social and economic crises that influenced their leadership roles. The project outlines the similarities and differences between Jesus and Muhammad in their personalities and in their social, religious, geographical, and economic conditions, and backgrounds. The study is sociological and historical rather than theological.
