Abstract
  • The experiences of seventeen women in ministry form the basis for viewing the role of women in ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. This Roman Catholic perspective interprets the experiences of these women against the background of specific issues: development of ordination, Vatican II, ordination of women, patriarchy, divinity and language. This thesis maintains that the full inclusion of women into the ministerial life of the church and the lessening of the chasm between clergy and laity occur simultaneously as the entire people of God, by means of their baptism, call leaders for service in the Roman Catholic Church.
