- Abstract
- This project summarizes things several effective Presbyterian New Church Development pastors deemed most important in nurturing new Christians in their faith journeys and helping them mature as disciples of Jesus Christ. Through questionnaires and interviews, eleven NCD pastors articulated their convictions. Survey instruments used biblical foundations, historic distinguishing characteristics of the church, and climates and methodologies incorporated by these pastors. Koinonia, the unique sense of community generated within faith communities, was deemed absolutely vital. Also very important were leitorgia (worship), kerygma (proclamation), and didache (teaching). Diakonia (service) was deemed the least important of the historic manifold ministries of the church.
