Abstracto

The study investigated the formation of the God concept in drug and alcohol addicted adolescents. For adolescents from a variety of family backgrounds results indicated that both parent images contributed to the God concept. This God concept is consistent with the developmental stage functioning of the patient. The patient experiences communication with the God concept as simultaneous with the combination of communication with both parental images. Tillich's perspectives on judgment, acceptance and transformation as well as his concept of the God beyond God are brought to bear on the studies. Implications for further research are made.
