Abstract
  • This project proposes a family education curriculum that will enhance awareness of the need for paternal involvement in families in the face of historical and cultural development of paternal noninvolvement and its sociological and psychological consequences. In working with members of a local congregation the project finds that while the Bible occasionally directs attention to the responsibilities of fathers, the most useful biblical emphasis is in the image of God as Father in the special sense of 'Abba.' Human fathers should take their pattern for parenting from the heavenly Abba.
