Abstract
  • The project determines how Thomas Groome's shared praxis methodology can be appropriated for pastoral counseling in the context of Christian education. Howard Clinebell's growth therapy is found to be uniquely appropriate to Groome's concepts. Critical life issues are examined in shared praxis workshops. Participants are counseling clients experiencing depression and low self-worth, along with local church members who desire to work on these issues. There are observed attitude and behavioral changes for both clients and non-clients. Theologically, the setting attends to the reconciliation of persons to themselves, others and God.
