Abstract
  • This ministry project report sets forth the foundation, implementation, and evaluation of a study utilizing the visual arts in spiritual education, focusing on their application in Christian aesthetics. The project was motivated in large part by the lack of attention to the arts in conservative, evangelical churches in America. Two groups from such a church, Circleville First Baptist Church in Ohio, completed this seven-session study in early 2004. Simultaneously, the author preached a sermon series utilizing art entitled Finding Beauty in the Bible. The response to the use of art and the principles regarding genuine beauty was overwhelmingly positive.
