Abstract
  • Leadership is essential to the church. Training enables leaders to achieve their potential. The purpose of this research project was to address a continuing need for leaders at Wesley United Methodist Church in Erie, Pennsylvania. The project developed and tested a program for training leaders at Wesley Church. This study emphasized five leadership characteristics for developing leaders: spiritual formation, emotional intelligence, authentic community, building teams, and resolving conflict. It focused on humility as a trait that encourages the practice of these characteristics. Six sessions were designed and taught to future leaders of Wesley Church, and the results were recorded.
