Abstract
  • This project is a descriptive analysis of the three-year ministerial endeavor which fashioned the model of basic Christian communities in a large northeastern suburban parish. This study focuses on the relevant issues, resources, and experiences which led to the implementation of basic communities in a particular parish. This thesis is biographical in style as it tells the story of a people, a parish, and a process that gave birth to smaller communities of faith. Considerable attention is given to the core group who was primarily responsible for the study and formation of the base communities. This research project exemplifies the ability of the baptized to assume responsible ownership for the nurture of their spiritual, educational, communal, and ministerial lives through the model of basic Christian communities.
