Abstract
  • The context of the church in the world has dramatically changed in the last forty years. This project endeavors to determine if there is a biblical paradigm that could help preaching provide an effective response in order to effect a hearing of the gospel in today's world. Since the Church's postmodern context directly connects with the paradigm of exilic/post-exilic thinking, strategies for interpretation of the Word of God related to that paradigm can influence effective preaching that remains faithful. A postmodern homiletic is developed by using both Walter Brueggemann's exilic/postexilic paradigm of imaginative interpretation of the Word of God in forming the people of God and postmodern interpretive moves of Jacques Derrida and other postmodern interpreters.
