- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to design a discipleship curriculum that would equip a selected group of believers, differing in adult ages, in the First Baptist Church, Cotton Valley, Louisiana, to become followers of Jesus resulting in the desire to fish for men. The curriculum was developed based on the words of Jesus, 'Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men' (Mk. 1:17 NAS). The selected believers participated in the developed six-week discipleship study that contained two weeks on following Jesus, two weeks on Jesus' conforming the believer and two weeks on the Christian's responsibility in soul winning. The study included group meetings followed by daily, individual lessons, Monday through Friday. The participants were evaluated before, during, and after the study. The primary goals of the project were to research the biblical basis for the personal responsibility of sharing Christ, to develop a discipleship curriculum that addressed that responsibility and its practice, and to equip the believers to become followers of Jesus and fish for men.
