Abstract
  • This project proposes that the preaching paradigm of Law and Gospel can speak effectively to the individualistic mindset of American Christians by enabling them to live as Christians within an individualistic culture. Based on research that brought together three manifestations of the Law and Gospel paradigm and American individualism, the project prepares four sermons that illustrate the use of the paradigm in preaching to individualism. Focus groups provide critical responses to each sermon. The project articulates a distinction between American individualism and Christian individuality.
